Mike Vrabel, the coach of Titans Players, is also a former defensive coordinator and linebacker. He has recently passed a statement as a joke that until his oldest son starts playing tackle, he didn't like offensive linemen. But it has been in the news that General Manager Jon Robinson and Vrabel are cropping of O-line prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine, especially the interior lineman.
Robinson said, “There is a pretty awesome depth in the interior part of the line.” So, it will be quite interesting to watch how it goes. Robinson also added, “Undoubtedly, at this time of the year, it is a quite big puzzle. You have to piece it together in the best possible way.”
Titans Players could possibly open in the next season with four new starters on the offensive line. This is one of the greatest areas of team. In anyway, the turnovers cannot be as dramatic as it was expected to be. But both of the guards are, more or less, pending free-agents. The Left Guard is Quinton Spain who is restricted and the Right Guard is Josh Kline who is unrestricted. So, the Left Guard is the much-better bet for Titans to be kept. Many speculations have been done by the draft analysts that the experienced center, Ben Jones, is the most likely for replacement.
Ben Jones had some issues with low snaps, though not much frequent. Also, he has two years but there is no remaining money guaranteed in the contract except his signing bonus. John Conklin, the right tackle is not much healthy for starting the season. He had surgeries for his torn anterior cruciate ligament which he suffered during the divisional-round playoff loss in New England.
Robinson stated that though Conklin was having a good progress, he still could assure anything. So, you have to wait and watch how quickly he can recover from the injury. Robinson also added that Conklin would be doing everything that can help him to strengthen him and his confidence to be ready for the game. Until Conklin is ready to show his skills again, the reserve tackle Dennis Kelly is probably going to take his position.
Upgrades are quite expected from the Titans based on their performances and team in the last few seasons. Thus, fans are also looking forward to check their lineup and performance. There are total six selections the Titan can make in the April draft which includes the 25 the pick in the 1st round. However, Robinson has expressed his reluctance towards spending much in the salary cap. He said that he would simplify the scouting process of interior linemen.
Robinson ended by saying, “I prefer guys who can block their guys. Though you can talk about this and that steps, all you have to be is really quick. What matters the most is how quick they can get for blocking a guy. Even the power and balance matters a lot here.”
