Jalen Ramsey is known for his stellar delivery as a cornerback at the Jacksonville Jaguars. His credentials are indeed known across the NFL. The player though is also known to be very candid and explicit in his comments. He is often caught trash talking other players and virtually anyone deserving his wrath. This is something that has been an unnerving issue in the past. Speaking recently about various quarterbacks, the script played out in an all too familiar manner. It will be interesting to see various QB's and their performance this NFL season. Not so long ago, Ramsey was very vocal against a reporter who had reported of a fight in the Jacksonville Jaguars quarters. His comments earned a week's suspension. This week though, the player was in the media again for another tirade.
While talking to GQ, Jalen Ramsey made his opinions clear about virtually every quarterback in the NFL. Ramsey did not mince his words as he explained why all of the quarterbacks he mentioned were less than impressive. Starting with Matt Ryan, Ramsey said that the player was overrated. He also basically dismissed Josh Allen as trash. According to Ramsey, Ben Roethlisberger was nothing spectacular but just average. He also said that the only reason Eli Manning would be classified as good was that he had the support of Odell Beckham Jr. Jalen Ramsey's sentiments were plentiful and the trash talking was quite consistent.
Tennessee Titans' Marcus Mariota was also not spared by Ramsey. Even though Ramsey reckoned that Mariota was great for the Titans, he also described him as a game manager. He felt that Mariota had the organizational skills that allowed him to prevail during the game even during the later moments of the game. Ramsey ranked Tyrod Taylor above Mariota though, arguing that Taylor was capable of doing everything that Mariota does without making mistakes. He also felt that Taylor didn't get as much recognition.
Mariota's assessment by Ramsey might not be particularly too far off the mark. Mariota has had an unsettled past few years, mainly as a result of the offense he has had to play for those years. There have not yet been a moment where he had the chance to soar high. Better things are expected for him with offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur now being part of the team. Ramsey's opinions could thus qualify as praises to the quarterback. Andrew Luck was cited as poor by Ramsey.
As for Ramsey himself, he is an impressive player who can actually deliver. His accolades speak for himself. He is a Pro-Bowl player who is known to deliver when it counts. Even with such an illustrious performance as his though, a little less trash talking would do justice for him. The fact that he went out on almost every important player means that he is a target for many. This could well be what he wants, but having too many opponents can either work great or bad for you. If he manages to shut down his opponents on the field, he will be a force. If he goes down though, he will go down hard. The only sure thing is that whatever unravels will be exciting to watch.
Jaguars WR Marqise Lee will miss the entire 2018 season after he suffered a left knee injury during Saturday's preseason game vs. the Falcons. Jalen Ramsey blames this injury on the NFL's new "can't hit people up high" rule pic.twitter.com/sKZ9JEiLmI
